Reduce child mortality (MDG’s progress & related research from PIK)

This blog-post shows positive effects and remained concerns of one of the MDG’s eight goals, ‘Reduce Child Mortality’ (1). This also includes research from Pamoja Imani Kenya which relate to the concerns.

MDG #4

Reduce Child Mortality

Progress

  • The target is to reduce by two-thirds, between 1990 and 2015, the under five years old mortality rate, from 93 children of every 1,000 dying to 31 of every 1,000.

Concerns

  • Children in the developing countries are still twice as likely to die before their fifth birthday.

Related research from PIK

  • Many of mother members have lost their infants and/or children, under and/or over primary school ages.
