Gladys is a single mother.
Her husband married another woman and left the family.
Gladys has an Alcers, a problem in her heart, so that she sometimes finds breathing difficult.
She needs to take some medication to relieve the pain this causes her.
Gladys’ child goes to school, but she struggles to pay the school fees.
Gladys works as a cleaner and receives some food from the houses she cleans.
The family eat only in the evenings, mostly potatoes and Ugali.
They live in a house without a kitchen, however this offers little protection and they have to use lamps for light. They buy water from their neighbor.
