Beth is a single mother.
Her husband married another woman and left the family.
Since Beth got divorced, her husband has never supported the family.
She takes care of 8 children: 2 of them are orphans from her mother and one of them is her sister’s child who left their village to look for a job.
Beth’s children go to primary school, but Beth struggles to pay the school fees.
Beth does casual work as a cleaner and receives some food from the houses she cleans.
The family eats about 3 evenings a week, mostly potatoes, maize and Ugali.
They live in a house without a kitchen, however this offers little protection and they have to use their neighbors’ wells for water and candles for light.
