Her husband works at a farm and earns a little money, but he uses his income for his alcohol.
Pennina suffers from suffers from her husband drinking a lot of alcohol and physically abusing her.
Their children go to primary school, but Pennina struggles to pay the school fees.
Pennina gets some food from their farm however the family eats in the evenings only.
Their diet is potatoes, maize and sometimes beans.
They live in a 2 room house with a kitchen, but this offers little protection and they have to use a well for water and use tin lamps for light.
