Teresa is a married mother.
Her husband works on a farm and earns a little money, but he uses his income for his alcohol. She suffers from her husband physically abusing her when he is drunk. Their children go to primary school, but Teresa struggles to pay the school fees.
The family produces some food – maize, rice and beans – from their farm, and the family only eat about 4 evenings a week.
They live in a house of 3 rooms with a kitchen, using candles for light and collecting water from a river.
